Bosnia and Harzegovina is a European country situated in the western Balkan Peninsula of Europe. The large region of Bosnia occupies the northern and central parts of the country, and Herzegovina occupies the south and southwest. Roughly triangular – shaped, Bosnia and Herzegovina is bordered by Serbia to the east, Montenegro to the South and Croatia to the north and southwest. It is not entirely landlocked: to the south it has a narrow coast on the Adriatic Sea, which is about 20 kilometres long.
